Fund the Changes You Want to See in Oregon

Corporations, wealthy individuals, unions, and industry groups hire lobbyists to represent them in Salem and Washington, D.C. in order to get the laws and society they want. Most Oregonians vote every few years and hope their priorities get heard and acted upon. They usually don’t.

What if we pooled our money and hired professional representation of our own?

Below are specific changes we could collectively hire lobbyists to pursue.

If an issue attracts enough support, Oregon Rainmakers will hire professional lobbyists to work toward that specific goal, track their work, and report the results back to the people funding it.

1,000 people × $10/month = $120,000/year for professional advocacy.

Unlike an elected official, a lobbyist has a specific assignment from the people paying for the work. If we aren't getting results, we can change the strategy, or hire someone else.

This is different from donating to a political party or advocacy organization. You may agree with part of a group’s platform but not all of it. Here, you choose the specific change you want to see, rather than a nebulous basket of “values” that may or may not be enacted.
